Traditional Chinese medicine is healthcare that is centered on you, the individual. For that reason, your first visit will include an extensive interview, which includes questions about your symptoms as well as the general functioning of the rest of your body; medical history; tongue and pulse diagnosis, and palpation of points and meridians. This allows your practitioner to tailor a diagnosis and treatment plan to your specific case. You should allow between 1 1/2 to 2 hours for your first visit. Following visits will take 1 hour.

How Quickly Will I Respond?

Everyone is different! Acute problems like a sore throat can be resolved in a single session. With chronic problems, we are accustomed to seeing results within 4-6 treatments. The total number of treatments depends upon the severity of the patient's condition, how long the condition has existed, and the patient's overall state of health and energy. Also, while some conditions respond very well to acupuncture alone, other conditions are best treated with the inclusion of herbal therapy. We prescribe herbs in a way that matches both your diagnosis and your lifestyle.

You and your practitioner will discuss reasonable treatment goals after the initial intake. As in any form of healing, the patient's attitude, diet, commitment, and lifestyle will affect the course of treatment. Patients are encouraged to partner in the healing process for best results!

Is Acupuncture Painful?

Acupuncture bears no resemblance to the feeling of receiving an injection or having blood drawn.. Acupuncture needles are very fine and flexible, about the diameter of a human hair. Most people are surprised to discover that the treatments involve little or no pain, but instead are often relaxing. You can expect to feel a light tingling sensation, a feeling of heaviness, warmth, or numbness at the acupuncture site.

For your protection we use pre-sterilized, disposable needles.
